Computer Aided Design for Linux

A variety of CAD for LINUX options available

If you want to create engineering designs on your computer and you also want to be rid of Microsoft, one of the possible solutions is to get Linux as your computer operating system and then install some CAD (Computer Aided Design) software. This is available from a variety of sources, some of them free, and some more expensive. Also, some are GPL open-source, and some are proprietary. "You pays your money (or not) and you takes your choice"!

Eric's discussion on the cad-linux mailing list www.freelists.org/webpage/cad-linux is a good place to start.

The proprietary code program LinuxCAD at http://www.linuxcad.com (I find it hard to believe that's GONE!) is also available, although it has been pointed out to not be open-source. It would be nice if there was a free demo.
