GAP

We were initially delighted to feature GAP at Zyra's website. GAP is a well known name in fashion and even though the affiliate program was a USA only program, the coverage here at Zyra's site was worldwide. So, it was recommended that if you were outside the US you'd have to get your relatives who live there to shop for you!

Welcome Back to Gap Europe! The market is recovering!

Meanwhile, GAP (USA) is currently no longer linked from here, and I'll explain why at the end of this page. But first, here's GAP's own shpiel...

GAP:

"Since 1969, Gap has provided customers with clothing and accessories that enhance personal style while providing great value and service.Gap

If you had been tempted by this, the link used to be here:

The Link To Gap Was Here! ...but now there's just a gap.

Gap

http://www.gap.com affiliate program (http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-779027-10415260) was with Commission Junction

So, the link has gone, but you can still go to GAP by means of the web address mentioned on this page. (Or, you can visit Gap Europe). The next question is: WHY did the link disappear? Well, GAP were a company who seemed to think they owned any and all rights to the term "gap", which would have been pretty tough on the London Underground with their Mind The Gap and that sort of thing, and the Watford Gap, a "spark gap", and the hypothetical gap between rich and poor, not to mention numerous entries in the Oxford English Dictionary. When the terms and conditions were introduced where the GAP Fashion Company tried to claim rights to control our metatags, the answer here was "No thanks, but it's been nice knowing you!". The thing is, a well designed website is going to have a proper description and title in each page, and, in the case of Zyra's website, the indexing entries to keep the site index up to date like the index in a book, are kept in the meta-tags! So, when GAP tried to exert control over that, we told them politely that we'd not comply, and so as a result, they terminated the affiliate agreement, so no more GAP affiliate links here. Shame!

(Note, we are talking "meta-tags" not "keywords" here. I remember Allders (just before they went into receivership) specifying a keywords condition, and that was agreed with here. Can do! In fact the Allders affiliate page is still up, even after the company ceased trading). Also see Elephant Insurance, especially the final paragraph about "The Elephant can keep off our meta-tags!"

This is interesting as, surely, it leaves a gap in this affiliate site? After all, GAP the fashion company are mentioned all over the place? Well no, it doesn't leave very much of a gap at all, as there are plenty of other FASHION companies featured here. Any gap that remains is a small gap. We will soon plug that gap by including a greater and more diverse range of fashion here. Many new companies are keen to be on this site, and they take a more open-minded view on freedom of website design, if they want to be in business in the long term that is.

Nothing against the Gap clothes company, you understand. It would have been nice to include them here. It's just that freedom of expression, whether it be in the form of what you say, or what clothes you wear, or how you build a website, is more important than corporate interest.

It's quite odd to think that a company that makes clothes for the youthful market, so you might think is trendy, has some corporate policies that are more uptight than some of the insurance companies and banks. I don't know what's up with them! Still, at least we are on polite speaking terms, and I expect we'll get this all resolved in a friendly way at some time. In the meantime, plenty of other clothes shops! You choose! Lead fashion, don't follow it! In terms of famous names, there are quite a few of them promoted here. Most have no problem, and some are well pleased with the way things are going! When shopping, you can shop around. Zyra's website is a place where reasonableness prevails. There's no hype, no ppc and no incentivised nonsense, and no silly voucher codes! The pages are in effect reviews of places, and the honest truth is told, for better or worse. This is the kind of site you want to see, not hype.

As a personal note, I have visited GAP shops before, on various shopping expeditions, and the clothes on sale seemed ok, but unremarkable. From what I could see it is casual apparel which has a wide appeal. Not formal wear, and not stuffy or oldfashioned, but neither is it interesting, exciting, gothic, punk, etc! I have a more of a taste for the alternative market , but I know a lot of people aren't so radical or daring. If you are looking for ordinary clothes, maybe GAP is for you. That's just my opinion, and on the subject of fashion, it is (and should be) each to their own taste!

If GAP are so minded to have a change of policy, they'll be welcomed back to this site!

Update: Gap Europe are already welcomed back!
